I am a Northern California girl who has moved all over the United States and has finally returned to my roots in the Pacific Northwest. My hometown was very similar to Taholah in size, which makes me feel right at home working in smaller classrooms. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in History from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, and recently completed my Master of Arts in Education degree at Oregon State University in Bend, Oregon. My student teaching experience likewise lent to a small classroom setting where I could support my students as individuals.
I have my heart in education and believe it is an important tool - not just for the sake of our futures, but also for the sake of our own well-being. I am a firm believer in teaching the whole student, so it is important to get to know what children are into - what kind of games they play, books they read, or movies they enjoy. I am well-versed in children’s media and use this to help my teaching. Having a lifelong love of learning and curiosity about the world around them is a continuing goal of mine, and I hope to inspire that in my students as well.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time in nature, watching movies, reading, writing, and art. Art has been a huge hobby of mine since I was very young and have been blessed with many opportunities to showcase my art at small shows and conventions. In trying to see things through an artistic lens, I hope to reach students who might struggle with stricter academic work by providing multiple ways to show what you know. I am excited to be in Washington and to start my teaching career in a great community like Taholah!
